“Solar Cities” is a new approach to refugee camps, as future
sustainable cities: it is an integration of the city of the future with a
solar power plant. Roofs of the modular refugee houses function as
reflectors to energise a so-called “solar power tower”, which generates
green energy from the solar radiation.
The combination of self-sustaining green infrastructure and refugee housing realises positive urban environments of which inhabitants and host countries benefit from the green energy. At the same time, refugees are offered sustainable, dignifying housing to start their future lives.
